Who is this Thai Massage & Breathing Experience for?

Whether you are feeling anxious, stressed, in pain or exhausted, the feeling of a massage is often very welcome indeed. I personally love them, hence why I trained in Thai Massage in 2012. Where I differ from other Thai Massage Therapists is that as a Breathing & Awareness Coach I also work with my clients on breathing and body awareness for improved wellbeing.

I am not looking to have you return to me week after week, each time feeling better for a few hours, but rapidly declining between sessions. I will actively work with you to improve how you feel between sessions and not to require ‘manipulation’ as regularly.

Through greater breathing and body awareness, a little more knowledge and simple tools to utilise throughout your day, I will support you (just as with my breathing and awareness coaching clients via Zoom or in person) to feel more empowered to make incremental, accessible, habit driven steps to feel better without the need for regular massages.

If this sounds like what you’d like, come and see me.

P.S. Why not book an experience as a gift for someone you care about?

“I enjoyed a Thai massage, which incorporates some guided breathing techniques which compliment the massage. The experience was one of feeling like I was in calm, confident and practiced hands. Jane is a delight and puts you at ease very quickly should you have any nerves or apprehension. I will be practicing the breathing techniques she gave me to go home and use to enhance the treatment I had for longer. Will be back again.”

What should I wear for my Thai Massage & Breathing Experience In Bicester?

Thai massage is traditionally practiced through loose fitting clothing. I advise wearing either comfortable stretchy clothing like yoga leggings and t-shirt or something similar to comfortable pyjamas with good flexibility for the hips to move. Avoid anything with thick seams, zips or clothing which is too thick. Sheets and blankets are available if necessary. Your feet will be cleaned before treatment but if you feel uncomfortable having someone touch your feet or you have fungal nail infections or verrucas please bring clean thin socks with you. Due to Coronavirus regulations, please bring a face mask with you. Your Thai massage therapist will also be wearing a mask.

I’m not sure about breathing, but I’d like a 60 minute massage in Bicester.

Thai massage is now offered for 60 minutes, following the relocation of my friend, Jasmine, who ran Thai Mint Massage in Bicester. I provide this service differently, on a floor mat and fully clothed, as you would find in Thailand. Although breathing coaching is not included in this option, I will guide your breathing where necessary to improve the experience.

What should I expect from a 90 minute or 2 hour Thai Massage Experience in Bicester?

As a certified breathing coach, I provide a unique Thai massage experience for my Bicester clients. In order to get the most benefit in terms of tension, anxiety and stress relief during and between sessions, I utilise and teach breathwork as part of my 90 minute or 2 hour Thai massage sessions. I educate my clients on what they can do from home between sessions or following it, if it is a one off treat. Through working with a number of clients for Breathing & Awareness Coaching, I bring a unique approach to a massage experience by empowering my clients with new tools and habits to use on a daily basis. Thai Massage is an ancient practice often taking 2 hours or more. In the modern world, Thai massage like yoga has evolved and in many cases been redesigned, but there is still much of the original art form present. One hour is simply too short for a full Thai massage. I work on a 90 minute or 2 hour massage experience, so that my clients can experience Thai massage as it is best done. Slowly. I also have a unique massage style because I coach my clients to work with the breath and improve their breathing style following my session. Breathing has always been a part of ancient practices, but this highly important aspect has been lost from so many wellbeing offerings. I show my clients the benefit of reintroducing conscious breathing to Thai massage and how to feel more wellbeing improvement in between massage sessions with a number of tips based on what I learn about my client. My most common feedback is “I never knew that”.

This may be the first time you have come across breathing as part of a wellbeing or massage package. I appreciate some may be sceptical. The thought is often, “if it was that important I’d have been taught about it as a child”. It is the fact we weren’t taught the importance of breathing as a child which makes the knowledge and empowerment to utilise breathing effectively even more valuable.

Conscious healthy breathing is a gateway for greater body awareness in general and therefore the opportunity for improved health.

What is Thai Massage?

Thai massage is an ancient practice from over 2500 years ago. It involves deep massage and stretching. Some like to call it a ‘lazy yoga’. Whilst dressed in a similar attire to yoga or sleep (with clothing which allows full movement of the body), a Thai massage therapist will utilise various parts of their body to work deeply and slowly across your entire body. Whilst better known massage treatments in the UK utilise the therapist’s hands, arms and elbows only, Thai massage benefits from the use of knees, heels and feet. Stretches are incorporated into Thai massage as part of the traditional practice and a Thai massage therapist must use their body to support and facilitate these stretches.
